The aim of the study is to render a solution to the subject of relation between body height and serve speed at the level of top ranking tennis players in the world. Research results from a comparison of two world players, Federer and Nadal, and statistical analysis (n = 24) of world leading players is contained herein. The statistical analysis proved high correlation dependency between body height and the average speed of 1st serve (r = 0.73) and the coefficient of coefficient (D = 0.53) indicates thatbody height contributes by approximately 50% in the variability of the serve speed. Regression equation of dependencies between the monitored values presents a model enabling an individual to compare individual serve speed with a set of world leading players.

Czech description

Cílem studie je řešení souvislostí mezi tělesnou výškou a rychlostí servisu u nejlepších světových tenistů. Výzkum vychází z komparace dvou předních světových hráčů ? Federera a Nadala a statistické analýzy (n = 24) předních světových hráčů. Statistickáanalýza prokázala vysokou korelační závislost mezi tělesnou výškou a průměrnou rychlostí 1. servisu (r = 0,73) a koeficient determinace (D = 0,53) naznačuje, že tělesná výška vysvětluje přibližně 50 % variability rychlosti servisu. Regresní rovnice závislostí mezi sledovanými veličinami představuje model, který umožňuje jedinci porovnat individuální rychlost servisu se souborem předních hráčů světa.
