Dynamic pressure measurements in below-knee prosthetics
Original language description
The use of sensors to measure the level and distribution of pressure has its unique role in prosthetics. It allows obtaining basic information, which is necessary for production of quality prosthetic equipment. It has to fulfil the basic requirements onuser comfort. When using trans-tibial prostheses, pressure measurements are used for two basic parts of the prosthesis. The first is the contact area between the stump and the prosthetic socket. The second part of is the area of contact between the prosthetic or sound feet and the ground. We did not detect any significant differences in loading of the sound limb when walking with various types of prosthetic feet, with the exception of early end of heel loading when walking with the dynamic prosthetic foot. The loading pattern in a sound limb, resembles more the values obtained for a prosthetic foot when walking with the dynamic foot with respect to magnitude. Pressure distribution under selected foot parts of the sound limb is comparabl
