Cultural and Social Influence on the Shape of Philosophy of Sport: The Case of Phenomenology
Original language description
The paper wants to show how cultural and social aspects affect these texts. The international (global) level of philosophy of sport is the same as philosophy of sport in English language. But in the different part of the world the philosophy of sport hasa little bit different accent. The example of philosophy of sport in Central Europe, specifically the Czech Republic, can be an illustration of such a cultural influence. Different historical, namely cultural and social conditions in West Europe and theU.S.A. can also be the reason why phenomenology, hermeneutics and existentialism are not often used in the journals of philosophy of sport. The number of authors, papers or members of editorial board is quite interesting point if we are looking for thereason why non-English native speakers publish in Journal of the Philosophy of Sport so rarely and why there are only a few phenomenological articles (even compared to philosophical journals).
