The educational level and socio-demographic determinants of physical activity in Czech adults
Original language description
The main purpose of the study is to study the association between education and PA of the Czech adult population and to discover other socio-demographic determinants influencing PA recommendations. A population-base survey conducted in 2008 included 6,989 International Physical Activity Questionnaires (short version) from Czech adults aged 26-69 years. The main result is that people with university education had less PA than other educational groups. "Health promotion" category is achieved by 9.9% of women and 6.5% of men with elementary education, 67.4% of women and 71.3% of men with secondary education, and 22.7% of women and 22.2% of men with university education. "Health promotion" category is more likely to be met by males, people with elementary, and secondary education, living in family with children, those who have a dog, and participate in organized PA. There was a surprising PA decrease among those who studied at a university.
