Methodological approach to assessing postural and core stability
Original language description
This study presents a methodological approach to assessing postural and core stability in people of different ages and level of physical fitness. It includes tests of (i) postural and core stability under stable and unstable conditions, (ii) postural stability after an unexpected perturbation, (iii) postural control during a task-oriented balance test, and (iv) maximal isometric back extensor muscle strength. This test battery can be complemented with other field tests of body balance and core strength. It can be applied in an evaluation of actual performance in general population as well as its changes after exercise programs.
