A view on the Period Flute: Anton Reicha – Sonata for Flute and Piano in G major, Op. 54 (Sonate pour le pianoforte avec accompagnement d‘une flute obligé, Op. 54)
Original language description
The idea of performing Reicha’s flute sonata on an appropriate period flute sounds rather easy in today’s historically informed practice scene. One has a number of information about the right instrument to perform this work on but is it possible or accessible to get such a flute for a Czech performer, so which flute should one use to be as „authentic“ as possible? Is the necessary information about the sonata easily accessible and is the sonata attractive enough for flute players to choose it for the concert performance? The presentation pointed to such aspects of interpreting this sonata from the point of view of a historical flute player.
