The aim of the paper is to characterize the development of the registered unemployment rate in the Czech Republic between 1993 and 2002, and to study the relation between the rate and selected economic, socio-demographic and other indicators. With regardto the achieved rate of unemployment, the studied period has been divided into three stages. For each stage a separate partial model is provided which covers a common influence of the trend and seasonal components. For the analysis of the relations between the registered unemployment rate and the selected indicators, region-related data from 2002 was used as the basic material. Taking into account the great differences of the capital Prague, two variants were chosen: Variant A -- all 14 regions of theCzech Republic; Variant B -- 13 regions excluding Prague. Cílem příspěvku je charakterizovat vývoj registrované míry nezaměstnanosti v České republice za období 1993-2002 a posoudit vztah míry s vybranými ekonomickými, sociálně demografickými a dalšími ukazateli. S ohledem na dosahovanou úroveň míry nezaměstnanosti je hodnocené období členěno do tří etap a pro každou z nich je samostatně stanoven dílčí model, který v sobě zahrnuje společné působení trendové a sezónní složky. Při analýze vztahů registrované míry nezaměstnanosti a vybraných ukazatelů sloužila jako výchozí materiál data roku 2002 ze souboru krajů ČR, přičemž s ohledem na výrazné odlišnosti hlavního města Prahy byly zvoleny dvě varianty: A -- všech 14 krajů ČR, B -- 13 krajů bez Prahy. Ukazatele byly voleny tak, aby pokrývaly základní oblasti, které by mohly ovlivňovat nezaměstnanost: rozloha (velikost regionu), podíl zemědělské půdy (zemědělství), hustota obyvatel (osídlení), podíl městského obyvatelstva (struktura), podíl středoškoláků a vysokoškoláků (vzdělanost), HDP na 1 oby
