The paper presents an outline of the development of health service in the CR and consequences of its changes on the level of demographic indicators. Changes in the economic and social environment together with social and economic aspects manifest themselves not only in the continual increasing the life expectancy of both sexes but also in the decrease of birth rate and delaying marriages to the higher age. The dynamics of mortality was analysed as a significant factor of the formation of a natural increase or decrease of population according to fundamental classes of causes of mortality.
