Sustainable development is the European Union fundamental strategy leading to a high quality of life. The strategy of sustainable development is the basic principle of the State Environmental Policy of the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic has activelyjoined amongst the countries of the world, which endeavour to promote new processes, which take into consideration the impacts of production and also products onto the environment. EMS are the most common form of voluntary activities aimed at environmental protection in the Czech Republic. A clear majority of individual organizations use the environmental management ISO 14001 system compared with the EMAS system.
