On Lingering Imbalances between Investments and Savings in the United States, Japan and Europe
Original language description
The paper is aimed at the evaluation of relationships between the rate of investments and the rate of savings in the United States, EU-countries and Japan. While in the United States, the rate of investments is permanently exceeding the rate of savings in the monitored period, in EU-15 countries as a whole, the rate of investments roughly corresponds to the rate of savings (on a long-term basis). But there are numerous exemptions from this state in particular member countries of the EU. For the purposeof comparison, a difference indicator between the rate of investments and the rate of savings in analysed countries is monitored. Polynomial trends of the difference indicator of the rate of investments and the rate of savings in the reference period could indicate certain similar developmental tendencies in countries under investigation.
