Multi-speed European Union - An assessment from the competitiveness point of view
Original language description
Competitiveness of the country is such a frequently used term that it is rather needed to involve it into the economic policy than to collide it. And this is also the case of European Union which accepted the competitiveness strategy called Lisbon strategy and subsequently strategy Europe 2020. For European Union not only the growth of competitiveness is important, much more crucial is convergence in competitiveness of its members. We aimed to verify whether the differences in competitiveness among individual countries really decrease. We used two well-known competitiveness indices and found out, that competitiveness of EU countries does not converge. So that European Union is positively multi-speed.
