The Regional Innovation Strategy in the Czech Republic and SMEs: evidence from Moravia
Original language description
The economic development of South Moravia should be based on innovation. Innovation can be thought of as the capability of firms to be alive and have positive impacts on economic growth. Innovation has 'natural' features and without it the private sectorcannot survive. To maintain the competitiveness of each region traditional sectors are necessary (services, industry and agriculture). For the further development of the region, it is also essential to be able to respond to new challenges and changes ona global scale. One of the strategies that contribute to this is the RIS3 that uses and produces larger innovative clusters involving local government, businesses (especially SMEs) and the creative potential of universities and research centres. These relations of cooperation are supported by funds from the EU and from local sources.
