Original language description
The paper deals with the analysis of price transmission within the commodity chain of bread production in the Czech Republic. The aim of the paper is to assess the asymmetry of price transmission, which may be caused by the existence of market power within the given commodity chain. The coefficients of price transmission elasticity were calculated to express numerically the intensity of price transmission between particular markets of the commodity chain. The intensity of the dependence of positive and negative inter-market price differences and the time lag were tested as well. The findings showed mostly inelastic price transmission in the supply direction, i.e. from the farm level towards the retail, except for the elastic response of consumer price on producer price changes. The analysis confirmed the existence of asymmetric price transmission from input to output prices, which may be regarded as a consequence of market structure on particular markets within the given food commodity chain.
