Rhetoric is the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques. The rhetorical situation has four critical components: the speaker, the content, the audience, and the purpose of the speech. The intention of the speech presented by a speaker using the right appeals is to influence the attitudes, beliefs, values, or actions of the audience. Nevertheless, this is a very complex process, depending on a number of conditions, i.e. proficiency in relevant issues, attitude towards the received information, interest, concentration, or fatigue of listeners, etc. Rhetorical skills must be cultured purposefully. In spite of the massive growth of modern electronic media that changes social existence, the spoken word still plays a significant role. There are a number of professions - executive managers among others - considerably dependent on rhetorical skills.
