Original language description
This paper focuses on applications of linear difference equations in the field of finance. A basic linear difference equation of the first order appearing in financial mathematics is described and its general solution is derived. It is shown that this solution represents an universal formula for calculating some financial products. Finally, using this solution we express appropriate formulas of finance, namely compound interest, the future and the present value of annuity due and ordinary annuity and loan amortization.
