Intensity and fragility of Czech participatory budgeting during the Covid 19 crisis

  • Original language description

The aim of the article is to evaluate the development of participatory budgeting (PB) in Czech municipalities from 2019 to 2021, a period including the Covid 19 crisis. To evaluate the level of activity in the PB process, the authors utilized basic indicators. The analysis revealed a consistent level of expenditure on PB projects. Czech municipalities serve as a valuable illustration of the sustainability of PB in democratic decision-making even with limited opportunities for in-person participation but an increased use of e-tools. The article contributes to understanding the barriers created by the Covid 19 crisis that affected the development of PB in many countries.
