The aim of the present study was to determine the virulence of Cmi strains and later on to evaluate the level of resistance of alfalfa varieties registered in the Czech Republic and of some standard check varieties. Three methods of inoculation were compared in greenhouse conditions. The Cmi strain 12/5/98 and its re-isolates showed a high level of virulence. Freeze-dried isolates lost their virulence. The best differentiation of tested varieties according to the level of resistance was obtained by using successive inoculation on cotyledons, stems and roots. Of tested alfalfa varieties, Vernal and Roamer were classified as resistant and Nitranka, Orca and Europe as the most sussceptible.

Ve skleníkových podmínkách byla testována patogenita 6 kmenů Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. insidiosus ( Cmi) a 6 reizolátů Cmi kmene 12/5/98 z VÚRV Praha Ruzyně a rezistence 20 odrůd vojtěšky seté vůči bakteriálnímu vadnutí. V testech byly použity různé metody inokulace. Nejvyšší hladinu virulence prokázal sbírkový kmen Cmi 12/5/98 a jeho reizoláty. Ostatní izoláty, dlouhodobě uchováváné v lyofilizovaném stavu byly avirulentní. Nejlepší diferenciace testovaných odrůd podle hladiny rezistence vůči Cmibylo dosaženo při použití po sobě jdoucí inokulace původcem vadnutí na děložní lístky, stonky a kořeny. Ze všech hodnocených odrůd vojtěšky seté na rezistenci k Cmi vykazovaly nejvyšší rezistenci odrůdy Vernal (USA) a Roamer (CAN),naproti tomu Nitranka(SK), Orca (F) a Europe (F) byly náchylné
