    Genetic controls of barley root systems and their associations with plant performance

    Thirteen QTLs for root traits were found on five of the seven barley chromosomes, no root QTL were detected on chromosimes 2H and 6H. Different sets of QTLs were associated with the seminal root system as compared to the adventitious root system. Associations between root QTLs and important agronomic genes were also detected. The semi-dwarfing genes (sdw1 and ari-e.GP) were found to have strong, but different pleiotropic effects on seminal and adventitious roots and plant performance. The mildew resistance gene, mlo was also associated with a QTL for root system size.

    Genetická kontrola kořenového systému ječmene a vztahy s výkonností rostlin

    13 QTL pro parametry kořenového systému bylo identifikováno na 5 ze 7 chromozómů ječmene, ale žádné QTL na chromozómu 2H a 6H. Různé soubory QTL byly spojeny se seminálním kořenovým systémem a jiné s adventivním kořenovým systémem. Byly detekovány asociace QTL pro kořenový systém s důležitými agronomickými geny. Geny polozakrslosti ječmene (sdw1 a ari-e.GP) měly silný, ale rozdílný vliv na seminální a adventivní kořenový systém a na výkonnost rostliny. Gen rezistence k padlí mlo byl také spojen s QTL pro velikost kořenového systému.
