    Influence of the oestrogen receptor gene and the follicle stimulating hormone gene on litter size in Large White sows

    The effects of the candidate genes for reproduction as the oestrogen receptor gene (ESR1) and the follicle-stimulating hormone beta subunit gene (FSHB) on the performance of Large White sows in the two herds have been examined. A total number of 248 sows(in ESR1 gene) and 149 sows (in FSHB gene) were genotypized by PCR-RFLP and analysed to determine whether the gene polymorphisms influence the efficiency of Large White sows. The influence of these genes in the first, the first to the fourth and the second to the fourth litter was investigated. The allele and genotype frequencies were ascertained. To discover the gene associations with reproduction traits, mixed linear models were used. The influence of the ESR1 and the FSHB genes in the studied populations were not very conclusive. The influence of these genes was different depending on the herd, in which the sows were bred or on the analyzed litter.

    Vliv genu estrogenového receptoru a genu folikuly stimulujího hormonu na velikost vrhu u prasnic plemene bílé ušlechtilé byl sledován u dvou chovů. Bylo genotypováno 248 prasnic pro gen ESR1 a 149 pro gen FSHB. Pro určení asociací s reprodukčními ukazateli bylo použito smíšeného lineárního modelu. Zjištěný vliv nebyl přesvědčivý a závisel na vlivu chovu, v kterém byly prasnice byly chovány.
