Surface runoff is regarded as an undesirable phenomenon because it deprives plants and soil of precipitation water and reduces its penetration. The occurrence and depth of frozen soil layer is the main factor which determines the amount the runoff in winter.

Povrchový odtok z travních porostů a orné půdy v předjaří
Czech description
Povrchový odtok je považován za nežádoucí jev, neboť ochuzuje rostliny a půdu a srážkovou vláhu a omezuje její zasakování. Výskyt a hloubka zmrzlé půdní vrstvy je hlavní faktor, který určuje podíl povrchově odtékající vody během zimy.
