Effect of the estrogen receptor, the follicle stimulating hormone and the myogenin genes on the Large White sows' performances

  • Original language description

The study was designed to determine the associations between the Estrogen Receptor Gene (ESR - PvuII), the Follicle Stimulating Hormone Gene (FSHB - HaeIII) and the Myogenin Gene (MYOG - MspI) with traits characterized the sow's efficiency comprehensively. Concretely, the age of the first conception (AFC), service period (SP), insemination interval (InI), total number of piglets born (TNB), number of piglets born alive (NBA), number of piglets weaned (NW), lean meat content (LMC), backfat thickness (BFT) and average daily gain (ADG) were included in the study. Significant effects of ESR and FSHB genes on the litter size (particularly on the second litters) and on the reproduction traits were found in investigated population. The influence of MYOG geneon reproduction traits but no effect on litter size was observed. None of included genes had effect on the growth traits. The results outline the possible application of abovementioned genes in selection of Large White sows.

Efekt genů estrogenového receptoru, folikul stimulujícího hormonu a myogeninu na užitkovost prasnic plemene bílé ušlechtilé

  • Czech description

Práce se zabývá určením asociací mezi genem ESR - PvuII, FSHB - HaeIII a myogenin (MYOG - MspI) s užitkovými vlastnostmi prasnic - věk při prvním zabřeznutí (AFC), servis perioda (SP), inseminační interval (InI), celkový počet narozených selat (TNB), počet živě narozených selat (NBA), počet odstavených selat (NW), obsah libového masa (LMC), výška hřbetního tuku (BFT) a průměrný denní přírůstek (ADG).
