The effect of silage additive supplementation on fermentation process of climper high moisture maize grain corn
Original language description
In the experiment with climper high moisture maize grain corn, the conservative effect of chemical additive on the fermentation process quality of model silages was examined, and compared with the control untreated silage. The chemical means based on organic acid mixture was applied homogeneously in dose of 3.5 L/t. At conservsation with the chemical means, a statistically significant (P<0.01) decrease of lactic acid formation from 23.42 g/kg DM of control silage to 15.17 g/kg DM and reduction of the total fermentation acid content in silages occured. Simultaneously, the highest amounts of acetic acid (7.66 g/kg DM) and ethanol content (11.22 g/kg DM) were analysed significantly (P<0.01). The chemical preservative concentrations used under conditions of this experiment (3.5 L/t) did not inhibit sufficiently the undesired microflora, and the final conservation was caused evidently only by intense decrease of pH value. The ammonium content in model silages was not affected significantly
