Root system size (RSS) was measured in 6 barley varieties using electrical capacitance. Estimates of RSS were taken twice during plant development: 3 tillers detectable (RSS1) and middle of heading (RSS2). The barley varieties were assessed during threeyears on the Žabčice (N49°01' E16°36') site (CZ). Grain yield (t/ha), nutrients uptake by grain (kg), and their relationships to RSS were evaluated (correlation coefficient). The variety share in the RSS variability was 9% to 12%. A negative correlationbetween RSS2 and the yield (r=-0.237**), and between RSS2 and P, K, Ca and Mg uptake (r=-0.272***, -0.229**, -0.197*, -0.322***) were found. A negative dependence of RSS1 on the N uptake by grain (r=-0.202**) was established.

Kořenová kapacita ječmene a její vliv na odběr živin zrnem

Czech description

Velikost kořenového systému (VKS) byla měřena u šesti odrůd ječmene jarního (Bojos, Jersey, Kompakt, Malz, Sebastian, Tolar) pomocí elektrické kapacity. Měření VKS probíhalo dvakrát za vegetaci: ve fázi BBCH 23 (tři odnože, VKS1) a BBCH 55 (polovina klasu vymetána, VKS2). Série maloparcelních pokusů byla realizována v letech 2005-2007 na lokalitě Žabčice (N49°01' E16°36', ČR). Hodnocen byl výnos zrna (t/ha), odběr živin zrnem (kg) a vztah těchto veličin k VKS (vyjářeno korelačním koeficientem r). Podílodrůdy na proměnlivosti VKS představoval 9% až 12%. Byl zjištěn negativní vztah VKS2 k výnosu (r=-0.237**) a k odběru P, K, Ca a Mg (r=-0.272***, -0.229**, -0.197*, -0.322***). Byla zjištěna negativní závislost VKS1 s odběrem N zrnem (r=-0.202**).
