This work presents the results of a survey that studied simulated plant browsing by herbivores. In 2004--2006, winter wheat, spring barley, and maize field trials were founded in order to monitor the impact of different levels of defoliation (leaf area reduction) on the yield and grain quality. The defoliation was carried out by means of mechanical removal of plant parts in the early growth stages. Selected qualitative parameters were determined in the harvested grain of wheat and barley. Statisticallysignificant influence of leaf area reduction (LAR) on grain yield (decrease by 4--14%) was found only in maize in 2004. No statistically significant influence of the leaf area reduction on thousand grain weight (TGW) was found in any of the studied crops. Vliv okusu zvěří na vybrané zrniny

Studie přináší výsledky výzkumu zabývajícího se simulací okusu rostlin býložravou zvěří. V letech 2004-2006 byly založeny polní pokusy s pšenicí ozimou, ječmenem jarním a kukuřicí pro sledování vlivu různých stupňů defoliace (redukce listové plochy) na výnos a kvalitu zrna. Defoliace byla prováděna mechanickým odstraněním částí rostlin v raných fázích růstu. Ve sklizeném zrnu pšenice a ječmene byly stanoveny vybrané kvalitativní parametry. Statisticky průkazný vliv redukce listové plochy na výnos zrna (pokles o 4-14 %) byl zjištěn pouze u kukuřice v roce 2004. U žádné z plodin nebyl zjištěn statisticky průkazný vliv redukce listové plochy na hmotnost tisíce zrn (HTZ). Redukce listové plochy neměla vliv na sledované kvalitativní parametry zrna ječmene,statisticky průkazně ale ovlivnila kvalitu zrna pšenice - po redukci listové plochy došlo k průkaznému zvýšení hodnot pádového čísla (o 29-39 s) a k poklesu hodnot SDS testu (o 8-9 ml).
