    Dormancy of Nicotiana benthamiana seeds can be broken by different compounds

  • Original language description

    The influence of after-ripening, sodium nitroprusside, potassium ferricyanide, cyanide and nitrite on germination of seeds of Nicotiana benthamiana was investigated as well as the influence of plant hormones and its inhibitors such as gibberellins, abscisic acid and paclobutrazol. Germination of N. benthamiana seeds was positively influenced by all treatments except treatments with abscisic acid, paclobutrazol and gibberellin (GA3). Gibberellins had an interesting effect on germination and dormancy breakage of studied seeds which was dependent on use of particular gibberellin: GA3 or GA4+7.
