The impact of temperature and precipitation in winter and spring period on weed infestation in spring barley

Meteorological characteristics influence weeds like other vegetation as well. The impact of lower temperature and precipitation in winter and spring period was evaluated on weed infestation in spring barley at Field experimental station in Zabcice (Jihomoravsky region, Czech Republic). This locality belongs in maize production area, it is very warm a dry climate region. The sum of temperature lower than 0°C, number of days with temperature lower than 0°C and the sum of precipitation during period from the first frost to date of weed evaluation. Mean temperature in observed periods was in year 2003/2004 4.36 °C; 2004/2005 3.05 °C; 2005/2006 2.28 °C; 2006/2007 6.00 °C. The results from Canonical Correspondence Analysis showed, the occurrence of some weedspecies was influenced by observed meteorological characteristics.
