    The effect of selenium in different forms on chicken growth

  • Original language description

    Selenium deficiency causes growth depression of chickens, worse feathering, lower digestion of fats, atrophy of pancreas, turkey chicks can have injured muscular stomach and ducklings can have necrotic tissues and ascites. The aim of our study was to compare the influence of organic and inorganic form of selenium on growth characteristic of broilers Ross 308. We used 128 cockerels which were divided into two groups -- with organic or inorganic form of selenium in experimental feed mixture. They were housed in cages and they were fed experimental feed mixtures till 10th to 41st day of age. Individual weighing was realized in 10th, 19th, 26th, 33rd and 41st day of age.
