Prostate cancer is second leading cause of death among men. In the present time, prostate specific antigen (PSA) is the only tumor marker used for carcinoma detection. This tumor marker has high level of sensitivity, but lower level of specificity, so itcan be increased either in inflammation or in prostate hyperplasia. It is desirable to find a new markers or genes with higher level of specificity. The aim of this study is to describe the level of metallothionein using electrochemical methods and realtime PCR in prostatic cell lines after stimulation by various heavy metals.
