Windbreak Porosity Determined from Digital Photo

  • Original language description

Windbreaks are important parts of the agricultural landscape. They reduce wind speed and thus the risk of wind erosion. Windbreaks are usually divided into permeable, semi permeable and impermeable ones. Semi permeable windbreaks are considered to be the most effective. One of the most important features of the structure is porosity. Analysis of the porosity of windbreaks was estimated by optical porosity method. The method is based on the determination of the ratio pixel binary digital photo. Digital photo contains only white and black pixels. Set permeability was interpreted 10% confidence interval. The results define the change in average permeability in height strips on the binary photo.
