Comparison of Soil Infiltration Capability and Selected Physical Properties of Two Locations

  • Original language description

The aim of the study was to identify the rate of water infiltration into soil at the two sites of interest - Niva and Koval - and carry out subsequent comparison of the sites on the basis of the identified infiltration capacity. The main differentiatingfactor is the soil type and soil class. To identify the infiltration capacity of soil, field measurements were carried out at both sites in the June-October period using the method of flooding infiltration and the obtained data was processed via geographical-empirical method according to Kostiakov. Also, intact soil samples were collected to assess the physical condition of the soil. The results of the measurements show significant differences between the two sites. These are given by different physicalproperties, identified on the basis of analysis of soil samples. Differences are caused in particular by the diverse soil class. The observed soil infiltration ability is generally higher at the Niva site. Heavy soil at Niva has a greate
