Hundred years of the phycological research in lednice ponds - the impact of the environmental conditions on the development of cyanobacteria and algae
Original language description
The presented study summarizes a long-term historical survey of phytoplankton and periphyton in National Nature Reserve Lednice ponds. The historical works were supplemented with data collected by the authors of this study. So far, these data starting atthe sixties of the 20th were assembled only in form of manuscripts of the final research reports. The study describes the dynamics of the algae and cyanobacteria in the context of the type of management. The first records from the 19th century inform about occurrence of halophilous species and water bloom of cyanobacteria. In the 20th century, in the period between the world wars, the eutrophic ponds bloomed regularly. In the years of lowered fish stock, massive occurrence of the water macrophytes ponds enabled species rich periphyton including halophilous taxa. The fifties up to nineties of the 20th century was a period of raising fish stock and massive eutrophication of the pond system in which nanoplanktonic species became dominant.
