    Rheopectic Behavior of Rendered Fat

  • Original language description

The waste fat is an integral part of the processing of animal by-products in rendering plants. The flow behaviour and time-dependent flow properties of waste fat in the temperature range of 10 °C, 20 °C, 30 °C and 62 °C have been studied. Waste fat exhibited non-Newtonian behaviour. Three mathematical models were used for prediction of the flow behaviour of waste fat. This includes following models, Casson, Steiger-Ory and Herschel-Bulkley models. The Herschel-Bulkley model described sufficiently the flow behaviour of the waste fat at different temperatures. Several kinds of rheological curves were determinated for description of flow behavior. On the base of these curves was determinated that waste fat exhibits rheopectic behavior.
