Original language description
This work focuses on the anaerobic fermentation of maize (Zea mays) contaminated with cadmium to discover possible effects of such contamination on this process. The hydroponic method was used for growing maize (HYBRID):CE 220 and the nutrient solution for plants was contaminated with cadmium. Grown plants were put into model fermentors of biogas station and produced biogas was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Concentrations of cadmium were quantified in green plants and also in fermentation residues. No inhibitory effects of maize contaminated with cadmium on the process of anaerobic fermentation were discovered and therefore such plants are usable for energy production.
