The effect of exogenous phytase on retainable phosphorus and egg quality in laying hens
Original language description
The experiment was conducted to determine effect of exogenous phytase on retainable phosphorus and egg quality in laying hens fed diets with low level only plant original phosphorus. Twenty four Lohmann Brown hens in 31 weeks in age were housed in individual cages. Level of total phosphorus in both diets was 3.69 g/kg. The control diet con-tained no exogenous phytase. The experimental diets contained exogenous phytase 150 FTU. The excreta and eggs were collected daily during experimental period (5 days). The results showed that phytase improved retainable phosphorus (P<0.05) compared with control diet. The excreta of hens fed diet with exogenous phytase contained significantly less phosphorus (0.276 g/kg DM) than excreta of hens fed control diet (0.286 g/kg DM). The addition of exogenous phytase did not affect egg weight and quality of eggshell.
