Follicle Development During and after Deviation in Holstein Cows

  • Original language description

This paper investigates the development of dominant follicles in high yielding cows. The Ovsynch protocol was used to synchronize the estrous cycle. Ovaries were monitored by transrectal sonography from the beginning of the differential change in growth rates between the largest and second largest follicles to the time of ovulation. The linear increase of dominant follicles was observed in conceived (P < 0.01) and non-conceived (P < 0.01) cows before ovulation. Further studies will be necessary to increase cow conceiving.
