Impact of agronomical treatments on semiperrenial rye grain yields
Original language description
Semiperrenial rye (Secale cereale var. multicaule) is a plant species, that was previously cultivated in Central European conditions, especially in poorer soils in the higher-lying areas. It is characterized by rich foliage, longer vegetation period, poor grain, height about 2 m and low resistance to lodging. From the grower's perspective it is a very modest sort of rye, growing well in less favorable soil and weather conditions (Pelikan & Libosvar, 1999; Pelikan, 2001). In 2003 saw the first variety of rye Lesan in CZ, bred from Beskydy ecotypes. This vigorous variety is mainly used in organic farming. There have been demands for greater quantities of certified seeds (average yields between 1-2 t.ha-1), since semiperrenial rye was used as catch crop with excellent anti-erosion effects (Bartlova et al, 2010; Pelikan, 2005; Prochazka et al, 2012; Vach et al, 2009). The aim of the research was to verify the possibility of increasing yields of rye in a range of conventional farming and to obtain sufficient quantities of cheap seed of sufficient quality. The effect of seeding rate, nitrogen fertilization and grouth regulators on the yields of semiperennial rye was evaluated in the years 2012-2015 in exact field experiments in the sugar beet growing region. The impact of seeding rate and nitrogen fertilization was observed first of all in drier conditions, the impact of growth regulators was positive in all years.
