Study aimed on characterization of riding stables in vicinity of Žďár nad Sázavou, region Vysočina was done at Mendel University in Brno in 2018. Twenty owners of riding stables from area up to 30 km from town Žďár nad Sázavou took participation in a questionnaire form of the study. The aim of the study was to evaluate level of riding stables, type of horses which are bred there and services which are offered. In chosen area stables breed 29 horse breeds, when the most common breed is Czech Warm-blood horse. American Quarter Horse, English Full-blood and hybrids follow. Czech Warm-blood, American Quarter Horse and breeds of Pony are the most popular for clients. 64 % of owners are preferring geldings for riding of clients. Four stables have indoor riding arena and outdoor riding arena. Only one stable uses only countryside in the neighbourhood for riding, the rest of them have at least some paddock or round pen. The owners of stables have own web pages or they use Facebook. In eight cases they use both. Part of stables use leaflets and posters for presentation too and some of them do not do advertising.
