The artificial insemination of zwartbles sheep
Original language description
In comparison with natural breeding, insemination allows the breeder to save both work and time needed for executing the breeding process. After synchronizing thirty-five ewes, they ere inseminated with fresh, diluted and chilled semen taken from rams from the Zbyslav, Zbyšek (younger, older) and Zoubek lineages. The first pregnancy scanning took place 43 days after the insemination. The research focused on the success rate of intracervical insemination and on the subsequent pregnancy rate. After the first pregnancy scanning (43rd day) and estimating the foetus sizes, the pregnancy rate was determined to be 60 %, which corresponds to 21 pregnant animals. Groups were formed according to the rams, from which the semen used for insemination was taken from, and a total pregnancy rate of almost 95 % (33 pregnant animals) was reached due to the subsequent natural breeding.
