A new combination in Ceropegia sect. Orbea (Apocynaceae-Ceropegieae) for Somaliland
Original language description
The new combination Ceropegia kochii (Lavranos) Bruyns is made for a Somalian species, Caralluma kochii Lavranos. This was previously subsumed under Ceropegia sacculata (N.E.Br.) Bruyns, a species which was described from a collection from Ethiopia and is now confined to Ethiopia. The two species differ both vegetatively and florally. They also differ ecologically. Ceropegia kochii is confined to limestone plateaux, while C. sacculata grows in volcanic ground in flat areas. Both occur together with the ubiquitous Ceropegia sprengeri (Schweinf. ex Sprenger) Bruyns.
