In the field small-plot trials, during two years in two growing regions, effects of foregoing crop, sowing date, sowing rate, variety and nitrogen doses on winter wheat growth and yield were studied. Initial growth of winter wheat plants was affected expdry matter weight of plants was decreased with later sowing date. The weight differences of plants from different sowing date were decreased during growing period. The highest grain yield was reached with the sowing date in agricultural limit, Astella variety and with higher nitrogen dose. In presented experiments absolutely highest yield (8.5 t.ha-1) was reached with Astella after alfalfa, with 120 kg N.ha-1 and sowing date in agricultural limit in sugar beet-growing region in growing period
