Soil tillage systems for winter wheat.
Original language description
There is now a new approach to soil tillage and planting systems. Instead of energy and labour consuming conventional systems with ploughing, reduced systems with shallow depth and tillage frequeny have become more and more popular. In the Czech Republic, reduced soil tillage systems are widely applied to cereal crops. The present paper gives designs of conventional and reduced systems for winter wheat grown after different previous crops. For each systems the costs of tillage/ planin combination with the costs of field operations during the growing season under standard and intensive technology of cultivation were calculated. As the results indicated, the reduction in tillage frequency after all previous crops resulted in the reduReduced soil tillagesystems for winter wheat are, considering their reduced costs and the neutral to positive yield response of wheat to reduced soil tillage frequency, an important resource in plant production under conditions of the Czech Republic.
