Original language description
Forestry sector constitutes in the rural area an important source of employment opportunities and is an important participant of regional development, especially in border areas, incl. regional aspects and location factors relation to successive processing industries. Wood processing industry has a long tradition in the Czech Republic. Historical aspect of this branch is also space location of producers in regions and connected aspects of social-economic character. The paper is focused on region structure of forestry and woodworking industry and connected socio-economic aspects -- especially employment as part of possible solutions of regional disparities. National Forest Programme of the Czech Republic for the period until 2013 contains a series of measures to solve the above mentioned problems.
