The European Union is tackling its regional economic disparities. This task is being undertaken through a multi-level approach, where the regions, countries and supra-national level of the European Union are all involved. The article evaluates the impactof regional policy on the process of decentralisation. The concept of regional policy is based on multi-level cooperation and the interaction of players in regions and at national level.
