Original language description
The paper deals with production and economic contexts and consequences of changes in the business environment of the European Union agriculture induced by both the expansion of the internal/common market and the acceleration of globalization processes. The main features of the competitiveness on the European and world market since the early nineties of the twentieth century in the context of the framework and rules of the Common agricultural policy (CAP) application are evaluated there. The results of the research are discussed in relation to the differences in production of major agricultural commodities in the old and the new EU Member States mainly. Our findings have demonstrated that the differences in dynamics of the agrarian sectors of individualmember states do exist and are based and influenced by wide variety of inner and outer factors.
