Progress made on the coordination of fiscal and economic policies in the Eurozone
Original language description
The aim of this paper is firstly, to consider new instruments for strengthening fiscal and economical coordination in the Euro Area and secondly, to analyse their implementation so far. The economic coordination has been enhanced by the adoption of secondary legislation of the EU, primary law and political commitments by the Eurozone Member States. The results show that there is a significant improvement on the fiscal side while the macroeconomic imbalances are challenging the Euro Area Members. The current positive economic climate should be used fully to increase the Euro Area and the EU's convergence and resilience.
