Bioeconomy policies: From global to local perspectives
Original language description
The policy of the bioeconomy began to develop in the 21st century. From the beginning, it was seen as an instrument to promote sustainable development. This chapter "Bioeconomy policies: From global to local perspectives" shows the bioeconomy as a subset that connects other environmental policies implemented in the European Union, including the Biodiversity Strategy, Farm to Fork, the Energy Union, the Circular Economy Action Plan and the Common Agricultural Policy. The following sections offer a global perspective on the varied implementation of bioeconomy strategies across countries, emphasising distinct approaches and disparities in adoption. The focus remains on European specificities, with a dedicated emphasis on the territory of the BIOEAST initiative.
