Analysis of birch leaves (Betula pendula Roth) growing in air polluted area of the Krusne hory Mts. and Decin Sandstone Highlands were performed on samples from permanent trees (1995 and 1998). The results revealed a connection between reduction of air pollutants and overall decrease in sulphur and nitrogen content in the leaves. Simultaneously, in many stands an increase in calcium content and a decrease in contents of phosphorus, magnesium and potassium occurred. The content of microelements and non-nutrient elements did not change.

Czech description
Analýza listů břízy (Betula pendula Roth.) rostoucí v imisní oblasti Krušných hor a Děčínské vrchoviny byla uskutečněna v letech 1995 a 1998. Výsledky ukázaly na spojení mezi redukcí polutantů a poklesem obsahu síry a dusíku v listech. Současně se v mnoha porostech zvýšil obsah vápníku a snížil obsah fosforu, hořčíku a draslíku. Obsah mikroelementů a ostatních prvků se neměnil.
