Original language description
New methodology of evaluation of state and management of small-scale protected areas was devised. While more than 2000 small-scale protected areas have been till now declared in the Czech Republic, lack of information about actual state of these areas exists. The proposed methodology (prepared for the Ministry of Environment of the Czech Republic) allows to quickly and effectively evaluate a current state and a management of protected areas. For purposes of the evaluation, only 1 day per 100 ha is needed for a field survey of any area. Classification method separately assesses contemporary state and management, each of them in eight categories, i.e. from sixteen different points of view. Each category is evaluated using a scale of six degrees; and eachcategory has a multiplicative coefficient according to its significance.
