In the Czech Republic, the wood-processing industry is a significant branch considering the tradition and the sufficient amount of raw material base of domestic origin. This time, the article focuses on the issues of sawmill production -- structure, situation and development tendency of processors -- and it analyses certain economic relation and indices. It also analyses the options and risks of future development even in relation to competitiveness within the European Union.

Průmysl zpracování dříví je v České republice významným odvětvím s ohledem na tradici a dostatek trvale obnovitelné surovinové základny domácího původu. Příspěvek se tentokrát zaměřuje na problematikou pilařské výroby - strukturu, stav a vývojové tendence zpracovatelů, a analyzuje některé ekonomické relace a ukazatele. Analyzuje také příležitosti a rizika budoucího vývoje, i v souvislostech konkurenceschopnosti v rámci Evropské unie.
