The development of the assimilatory organs biomass of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) and Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) stands was analysed from the time of their establishment on clear-felled areas in 1982 till the last measurement in 2002. The experiment has begun in the cadastre of Destne in the Orlicke hory Mts. at the altitude of 900 m. The spruce plantation was established at 1.5 ' 1.5 m spacing (4600 plants ha-1), the beech one at 1.0'1.0 m (10 000 plants ha-1). In 2002, some 1550 spruce trees ha-1 (mean height 10.1 m) and 7440 beech trees ha-1 (mean height 4.8 m) were recorded after cleanings. At the end of the first vegetation season in 1982, the DM (dry matter) weight of assimilatory tissues in spruce and beech amounted to 35 and 70 kg ha-1, respectively. Ve studii je analyzován vývoj biomasy asimilačních orgánů bukového a smrkového porostu od doby jejich založení na holých sečích v roce 1982 až po poslední měření v r. 2002. Experiment byl založen v katastru obce Deštné v Orlických horách v nadmořské výšce 900 m. Smrková kultura byla založena ve sponu 1,5 x 1,5 m (4600 ks.ha-1), buková ve sponu 1,0 x 1,0 m (10000 ks.ha-1). V roce 2002 bylo na plochách po provedených výchovných zásazích registrováno 1550 smrků.ha-1 (střední výška 10,1 m) a 7441 buků.ha-1(střední výška 4,8 m). Na konci prvého vegetačního období v roce 1982 činila hmotnost sušiny asimilačních orgánů ve smrku 37 kg.ha-1 a v buku 68 kg.ha-1. Po pěti letech, v roce 1987 se tyto hodnoty zvýšily na 773 kg.ha-1 ve smrku, a na 358 kg.ha-1 v buku. V roce 2002 (věk porostu 21 let) byla metodou destrukční analýzy 20 vzorníků z každého porostu orientačně stanovena hmotnost sušiny jehličí ve smrku na 11.900 kg.ha-1 a hmotnost sušiny listů v buku na 3090 kg.ha-1.
